Mi Shebeirach Tapestry 2008--The Green Edition:

We are dedicating this year’s Healing Tapestry Project to Healing the Planet.  We want to celebrate our responsibility to maintain the health and life force of our natural world with squares that celebrate this theme. If you would like to create a special square for this tapestry, please review the design and submission guidelines. We need them completed no later than August 25th.

Design and Submission Guidelines

Is anyone interested in organizing a trip to tour an organic farm? The following farmers offer tours or meet with visitors:

1. Tonopah Rob at the Garden of Eatin': Rob is at the Downtown Farmer's Market every other Saturday and greeting visitors at his farm on alternating Saturdays.
   Email Tonopah Rob at tonopahrob1@msn.com for information on when you can visit his farm and directions.
   
   
2. Maya's at the Farm at South Mountain: Maya has a booth at the Downtown Farmer's Market, but you can visit her some Saturdays between 9 am and 1 pm at the Farm, 6106 S. 32nd Street, Phoenix. 480-236-7097
   
   
3. Frank the Farmer at Crooked Sky Farms hosts two public events a year at the Glendale Farm.  These are a chance for CSA members, friends, family, and others to visit the field, learn a bit more about the farming, and talk with Farmer Frank. These events are announced about one month in advance. You can check their website, or sign up to be contacted by sending them an e-mail or participating in the www.localharvest.com event notification system.
   
   
4. Queen Creek Olive Mill invites you to Picnic-in-the-Grove. Each week, Tuesday through Sunday, you can visit a working olive mill and farm. You can picnic in their grove in front of the mill among Spanish and Italian Olive varieties. Admission is $5 per/person BUT you receive a coupon for $5 off a store purchase of $10 or more that same day. Tours last about 20 minutes.
   Wed. - Sat. 10:30AM and 1:30PM
   Groups of 8 or more must be scheduled by calling 480-756-6998.
