National Environmental Action Sites

Coalition on the Environment and Jewish Life (COEJL): You can register for a monthly email newsletter that includes holiday resource materials, highlights about Jewish environmental initiatives around North America, updates about the latest on Capitol Hill, and ways for you to get involved.

Conservation International is a global conservation organization taking action in over 45 countries. Check out Al Gore's article on CI's forest solution or use their tools to learn about your impact on the environment and ways that you can make a difference (Select the "Act" option from their home page):

    • Carbon Calculator: This calculator links directly to forest preservation and reforestation projects where you can purchase carbon offset credits.
    • Eco Footprint: Take a quiz to measure your eco-footprint and learn about things you can do at home and on-the-road.

The National Resources Defense Council (NRDC): Your up to date resource for exploring issues, getting news, and taking action. Here are just a few examples of what they have to offer:

    • It's Your Nature: A range of resources for young adults and young-at-heart adults. Music videos and songs to download, blogs, news, and action resources. ---A great site with lots to see.
    • The Green Squad: Children taking action for greener, healthier schools. A great way for children and young adults to become environmentally active.
    • I've answered many questions about issues ranging from lightbulbs to diapers to mercury levels in the fish I eat on their Green Living page.
    • Sign up for the Bio-Gems email newsletter for up-to-date news on threatened ecosystems around the world.
    • EcoTalk Segments: Lots of issues covered in this archived show of MP3 Podcasts that you can download or listen to on your computer.

National Religious Partnership for the Environment: COEJL is one of the primary organizations that form this interdenominational effort to respond to environmental needs and influence policy.

National Wildlife Foundation: Another globally organization with projects around the world.

Nature Conservancy: You can join this organization for FREE. Make your own nature conservancy web page (select what features you'll see when you visit the site), explore new places, get email. They have lots of volunteer opportunities in Arizona!

Earthtrust: Their web site is difficult to navigate, but this organization has been instrumental in affecting wildlife conservation policy around the world.
